Welcome Home / Happy Birthday Joel!!!

The design for this cake came from a CC user post. It was an honor to make this cake for my brother-in-law Joel, who recently returned from serving our country in the War in the Middle East. His birthday is in the month of September, so we celebrated his Birthday and safe return. I was pleased with the outcome and he loved his cake! Thank you for your service Joel, we love you!

Tee It Up!

A variation from the earlier golf cake post that I did for a friend's father for his birthday. I really loved the contrast between the ball and the green "grass". This is such a fun cake to do!!

Farewell to "Punchy"

My Daddy asked that I do a cake for a co-worker being transferred to another state- "Punchy" is his nickname. He had already lived and worked in NC and TN, and is being transferred to SC, so that is the basis for the team logos being crossed out. (as much as I hated doing that to the Vols!!) The top layer displays the AT&T logo, and not until I reviewed the pictures did I notice that the T had some damage to it...Sorry Daddy. This was the first time I attempted a buttercream transfer, I think my logos didn't turn out that great, and I actually ended up freehanding the UNC, the Gamecock was tough! The guys loved the cake so that's all that matters! Good luck "Punchy"!!!

Happy Birthday Sandra!!

I made this cake for my friend Sarah's Mom for her birthday. I really liked the way the colors turned out, and it was the first time using my fondant cutter, and my first time making chocolate fondant (which took forever, but was really yummy!!). I was pleased with the finished product and Sarah said the party-goers and the Birthday girl loved the cake!!!

Happy Birthday Jodi!!!

This is a cake I did for one of my dear friends. I was excited when my Funky Alphabet cutters were delivered so I could use them for her cake! I need some more practice with them, but think I am going to love them! I got the idea for this cake from a post on Cake Central- so I can't take credit for the design - I did add my own twist to it- I was really pleased with the result!!!

Popcorn Cupcakes for Carson!!!

This was my nephew Carson's request for his birthday- Popcorn Cupcakes. My niece and nephews gave me a cupcake idea book for my birthday and he picked out his cupcakes for me to do. These are mini cupcakes with yellow and white marshmallows for the popcorn with crystal sugar for the "salt". He loved them!! I look forward to doing more cupcakes in the future for my daughter's preschool class- cupcakes are AWESOME!!!

Having a Ball at Jonah's 4th Birthday!!

This is a variation of the Beach Ball cake I made for Gavin's 1st birthday. I was very excited to use my new cutters for the letters. This is a 2 layer 14" round cake iced in buttercream. The letters and the ball and bat are fondant.

Happy Birthday MiMi!!

My first attempt at a loopy bow, and again, another live and learn experience. I think it turned out pretty good for my first try, and Jonnie loved her cake. The Lesson is that sunlight will fade the fondant bow, and my loops don't need to be so fat!! I can't wait to try the bow again!!

Congratualtions Writers!!!

This cake was done for my Brother-in-law's division at Oak Ridge National Laboratory. Three of the writers in his division won an award and there was a party to celebrate the honors. Leah was the creative mind behind this cake- and we wanted it to read "Writers Rock!" but...Jayson thought that was dumb...so this was the finished product

Happy Birthday Brad!!

My first cake using my new Sports Ball Pan. The golf ball and accents are fondant and the rest of the cake is iced in buttercream. Brad said his cake was "freakin' awesome!!!" My live-in critic Kevin said my flag was way too big, but what does he know??? Brad liked it, so that all that matters- a happy Birthday Boy!!

Macy's Surprise 16th Birthday Party!

This cake was for a surprise 16th Birthday Party for a very dear friend of mine. The top layer was a tad lop-sided, but the cake had a rough ride from Maryville to Greenback:) I attempted a "16" cake topper out of candy melts, but it just didn't turn out the way I wanted...again, live and learn. But Macy loved it and it was a wonderful party- new car and all!!!

Gavin's 1st Ever Beach Bash Birthday!!!

This is the cake I did for my son's 1st Birthday. We had a pool party and I wanted the theme of the party to all tie in together. I orignally wanted to do a Noah's Ark theme, but just couldn't find any plates and napkins I liked, and the beach ball plates were just too cute to pass up. So I made the cake to match the plates, complete with his own smash cake too! This cake along with the Minnie Mouse cake I did for my daughter's 4th birthday were the springboard for me to begin making cakes for more than just my family...

Happy 80th Birthday Grandmother Dorothy!

I volunteered to make the cake for my Grandmother Dorothy's 80th Birthday. I knew I wanted it to be extra special, and love the look of a basketweave cake. I had never experimented with this technique before setting out to make her cake, but I felt confident and it turned out beautifully! I literally prayed my way through the entire thing! I knew it had to be special because she is such a special lady!! The outcome was truly a gift from God!!!

Partying with Minnie Mouse for Carrington's 4th Birthday!!

This is my favorite cake I have done so far. I admit I found the picture and did my best to copy the general idea, making my own adjustments. I used 10" round for the head, and 6" round for the ears. The entire cake is iced in buttercream, and the details of the face are done in fondant (the first time I made MMF myself). The picture I found had used red, but our matching plates were pink, and pink and black is my favorite combo! She LOVED her Minnie Mouse cake and I was pleased with the outcome too!
